A collaborative art project between Patricia Coulter and Andrea Revoy
This whole project began to germinate well over a year ago. Patricia was listening to the song “Carry Me Home” by the Canadian band Hey Rosetta. This is such an unusual song about Christmas and while painting, she focused entirely on the words and the music all the while silencing her inner critic. Afterwards, she stepped back and realized that in that time, she had created an abstract painting.
Patricia began thinking about this simple four letter word and wondered how she could expand on this theme.
Early 2025, Patricia met ceramic artist Andrea Revoy at an artist retreat on Vancouver Island. A serendipitous meeting of creatives, they immediately became friends and formed the idea of working jointly together on the theme of ‘Home’.
As they progress on this theme, they would like to encourage people to share their memories and their thoughts of home, both happy and sad.
They will then take these shared feelings and memories and incorporate them into their art forms. They will become part of Patricia’s art work, possibly as a title or a part of a mixed media painting. Andrea will incorporate these into her clay sculptures.
Please help us expand on this theme by sharing your meaning of “Home” with us.
Thank you,
Andrea and Patricia
Andrea Revoy Artist Statement – Carry Me Home Project
March 2025 I met Patricia Coulter at a residency on Vancouver Island and it didn’t take long before we decided to do a collaborative project together. We had an instant connection in a friendship and in our work with our styles being decidedly different but with the same theme of “Home”.
I had been thinking of reinvestigating the house shape in my work again and this project has brought those thoughts and ideas to the forefront of my studio practice. The concept of Home, along with a new direction I am pursuing with sculptural trees and my connection with nature, this project has been a serendipitous union for me. In the last few years, I have had a change of home and circumstance which includes a healing journey that has made my work a lot more personal and introspective. The house shape ties into that and how connected we are to our homes and what occurs inside them, whether it be good or bad.
In this project, I am exploring different ways of using highly textured ceramic sculpture with copper sheeting and the relationships of houses and trees and how we coexist and heal within each.
What Our Friends Are Saying:
Definitely one of the most fun and informative classes I’ve been to!
Love! Love! Love! My Drinking Buddy cup!!
I own two of Andrea’s “Drinking Buddies’. These quirky cups bring a smile to my face everyday. When not in the dishwasher, our ‘Drinking Buddies’ are hanging out at the dinner table waiting to be filled with milk or my personal favourite Rum and Coke.
